WINDOWS ON THE WORLD: Land of Milk & Honey? Poverty in Germany Sunday, April 14th, 2013, 7 pm



  • Get ready for the next session of Fialta's new Sunday evening: 'Windows on the World'. Each week an interactive presentation will open windows on a variety of subjects from around the world. 
  • This week’s 'Windows on the World' will continue our look on Germany. The event is titled 'Land of Milk & Honey? Poverty in Germany'. These days Germany is known as the leading economy in Europe and one of the major forces in the globalized world. Given this background it may seem surprising for outsiders that despite all this success many people live in poverty. In extreme cases people are homeless, but also many with a home and even a job are considered poor. In fact part of Germany’s current economic success is based on low paid jobs with harsh working conditions. Some people have more than one job and still struggle for participation in society…
