description: On this meeting we will get introduced with the idea of the project & each other,  get some answers on tricky questions & experience some interactive games connected with the topic.

2. what is culture? - Wednesday 25.04.12 from 19.00 to 22.00 at Fialta

description: On this meeting we will let our imagination go wild and start a mind twisting brainstorm around culture. We define situations and places where to find those moments of cultural* expression in Minsk. And prepare ourselves to see the people's life more consciously. Look at already taken pictures and hunt for more.

3. action! - Saturday 28.04.12 from 14.00 to 17.00 at Fialta

description: On this meeting we will see how the new way of “watching” changed our view of culture* in Minsk. We will discuss the pictures fitting to your definition of culture*. Reflect on the situations we defined at “what is culture? (2)” and add or cut some of them. Trips to spots in the City in teams, to hunt  strong moments.

4. story writing workshop - Wednesday 02.05.12 from 19.00 to 22.00 at Fialta

description: On this meeting we will select the best pictures, on terms of composing, atmosphere, simplicity and most important the message. We will start to create short texts to embed our pictures in the view of cultural expression. And assign groups to work on details.

5. silhouettes workshop - Saturday 05.05.12 from 14.00 to 17.00 at Fialta

description: On this meeting we will create simple symbolic pictures underlining our definitions and stories. And we become more aware of the key moments of relations and actions of people in their daily life. By the way, we build a simple Photostudio for this.

6. story writing workshop 2 - Saturday 12.05.12 from 14.00 to 18.00 at Fialta

description: On this meeting we will make and choose more pictures, add stories. We have time to reflect and discuss the material we have already created.

description: On this meeting we will brainstorm and create a event to present our photobook to the public. And a extraordinary exhibition with some of the pictures will be planned.

Briefly about my person, my Name is Maximilian Rosenberger and I’m EVS-Volunteer at Fialta, i worked since 2008 as press- and event-photographer in Austria and love to capture portraits and landscapes, architecture and little details hidden in our daily world.

In my compassion for photography and the deep connection i feel with Belarus, i want to publish a photobook, which will show the culture, the daily life of the people in Minsk. As in Austria and so in other countries in the west, Belarus is still a “hidden treasure”, there are hardly any other sources than political news, the people and their country stay unknown so far. I wish to change this and show the people in their daily life, with their sadness and their happiness, their worries and dreams...

To do this, i need your help!

On our information meeting i would like to show you my vision of the project. When you decide to go on this journey with me, i’m looking forward to find moments of belarusian life with you. With this project we can contribute to the belarusian culture* and improve international relationships, thought showing its light and shadow, bring it closer to people outside Belarus, people who would like to know more of this strong and colorful but hidden culture*.

My idea is to show it through capturing daily life situations & body language of belarusians. And while we do this, we learn to work in a group, understand the psychology of movement, posing, gestures and mimics and discover our way of telling stories with photography and especially silhouettes.

*Here exactly lies the question, what is “culture”, is it theater, poetry and architecture or are those things just superficial symptoms of the very basic nature (culture) of the people living their lives?
